4 Ways to Embrace the Cold

Warm Your Core! Nothing inhibits your desire to venture out in the cold than fearing you’ll lose all the body heat you worked so hard to build up since your toes hit the cold floor this morning. Layering is key to staying warm, and you can do it while still being fashionable. Start with a thin layer (like our Eden Turtleneck) – layer on a comfy sweater, a puffy vest and top with a light down jacket. Keeping your core warm can allow you to jazz things up with jeans or pants without having to bulk up with long underwear. Pop on a cute hat and scarf to finish it off.

#2 Treat Your Feet! Don’t skimp on your footwear, especially in the winter. A good pair of warm boots can make or break your winter. Literally. Check the tread before you buy. Minnesota is notorious for icy sidewalks. You might need to break the bank a bit to keep from breaking something else. (Trust me, I’ve been there!) If your feet are warm, the rest of your body will stay warm. And layer with one of our awesome pairs of socks from Fits or Darn Tough.

#3 Get Out In It! Now you’re dressed warm and you’re steady on your feet, get outside. One of the best ways to beat S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is to get fresh air and exercise. And extra points if the sun is out that day and you can soak up some vitamin D. Cold fresh air supports a healthy respiratory system, reduces inflammation, helps you burn more calories and best of all, helps you sleep better. And when you come in…

#4 Pick Your Poison! There are some things that you just can’t enjoy unless it’s cold out, allow me to list them out: Hot Cocoa, Chai Tea, Coffee & Irish Cream, Hot Cocoa & Peppermint Schapps, Rummed up Grog, Hot Tea with Lemon, Mulled Wine, Bourbon Tea… if you like where this is going, check out more ideas at this link from Buzzfeed *Photo Courtesy of Buzzfeed
